It's not my fault that I'm spoiled. England, France. What's next? We rode on a train under the ocean to get to Paris. I love trains. I wish you could have been there.
If you ask me if I like museums, I'll say, "Yes", but only if they have chairs so I can sit. And some of the ladies in the pictures need some privacy. I saw a first aid cross on the map and asked to go there to get help for my hurting legs. Mom and Dad had to bribe me a few times to keep walking during our stay in Paris. Yummy pastries and dinner at restaurants and a my favorite--the boat ride helped a lot.
I think that this might be the biggest museum I've ever been in. I was soooooo tired. So was Mom. We had gotten up really early, walked all day, and D-dad had to find us a quite, dark place to rest (it was a silent movie theatre in the museum with a lot of old people) before Mom fell apart. My legs hurt.
The truth is I was too tired to get up early and go to this palace. My parents walked my socks off the day before. David/daddy let me sleep in and mom went here with the students.
You're crazy David-daddy. What's that coming out of your head? I loved the Eifel Tower. It is huge. We had to walk up a lot of stairs, but not to the top. We rode the elevator. It was beautiful up there. We could see all of Paris.
We had fun with Andrew and Natalie. The first day they were here we went to the National Gallery at Trafalgar Square and walked to Westminster Abbey for an evensong, and we took a bus back to St. Martin's in the Field for a concert. We went to War Horse, a great play with life size horse puppets. We went to Leed's castle and Dover castle (I was kind of grouchy by then, because I was tired of walking and stairs) and we saw the white cliffs at Dover. I had fish and chips at the restaurant. So good! I slept till 12:30 today, but it's my last day on the couch, I think. Are we going to have more visitors? Maybe tomorrow. Just kidding. We did. We're done, we think. Mom and D-dad--boring! Thank goodness the students are coming back from their 4 days out.(Check out the giant ruhbarb behind D-dad in the first picture).
Raise your hand if you remember Hyde Park and Kennsington Gardens? What do you remember most? The Orangery? The statues? The Serpintine Pond? The Italian Garden and water fountains? The Sunken Garden? The round pond?
We had so much fun with Liz and Isaac and Sarah and Josh. We went to Les Miserable, on a boat on the River Thames, an Evensong at St. Paul's, and a concert at St. Martin in the Fields.
Jordan and Taryn visited us in London. Abby is so cute! My favorite part was feeding the ducks at Kenningston Gardens and having 'tea' and going to a restuarant for dinner. We walked all over the place and up and down so many stairs. I hate stairs.
We went on a 5 day trip by bus with the students. I like riding on the bus and staying in the youth hostels. The day after we got home Jord and Taryn visited us.
Cemeteries are interesting. Dead people are there. I always like to know why they are dead. Mom says that everyone will die. This cemetery is at Haworth, the home where the Bronte sisters lived. When they were alive 50% of babies died before they were 5 years old. Sad.
